Wiper blade manufacturer, TRICO, has pledged to donate £1 of every sale through its distributor, A1 Motor Stores, to a charity that hosts driving days for disabled people.
The charity TRICO and A1 are donating to is Speed Of Sight, which is based in Bolton and run by blind race car driver and multiple World Record holder, Mike Newman and his co-founder, John Galloway. TRICO is the headline sponsor for the charity, which hosts driving experiences for children and adults with disabilities.
This joint initiative between TRICO and A1 Motor Stores will begin on 14th June 2021 and run until the end of July 2021, with the public able to buy a pair of TRICO wiper blades from more than 70 A1 Motor Stores across the country, or online here: https://a1motorstores.com/store-locator/
TRICO has been the headline sponsor for Speed Of Sight since 2020 and along with the sponsorship money it’s donated, staff also raised more than £1,000 for them in January by running 5k every single day of that month.
TRICO’s Group Brand & Marketing Manager (Europe), Sam Robinson, said: “We wanted to encourage drivers to do a good thing while buying their wiper blades, which are critical safety components for every vehicle. We have been involved with Speed Of Sight since last year when I got the chance to attend a track day and it was so inspiring that I started thinking of different ways to help the charity straight away.
“We’re very proud to be the headline sponsor, but we wanted to increase donations even more, as well as build awareness of the charity, so we came up with this initiative to help them.”
“Our wiper blades are manufactured to the highest quality and are such a safety critical component on a car that drivers need to be certain that they trust the product. It’s because of this that we test every single blade we make so that it’s the best it can be and why our customers are happy to fit TRICO blades.”
CEO of Speed Of Sight, Mike Newman, commented: “We’re thrilled that TRICO and A1 have decided to support us in this campaign, they already do so much for us, but we’re a family here at Speed Of Sight and we’ve welcomed TRICO with open arms. We’re incredibly grateful for everything they do for us.
“We believe that no disability should get in the way of having the experience of driving a car, which is why when I was told I wouldn’t be able to because I’ve been blind since birth, I decided to become the fastest blind man on earth – on land, water and in the air! I didn’t let my disability stop me and it’s changed my life, and that’s what we’re trying to bring to everyone else who has a disability and has been told they can’t do something that’s so normal for everyone else.”
Kym Smith, Product Manager for wiper blades, said: “We’re very honoured to be a part of this campaign with TRICO and Speed Of Sight, it’s a great charity and I know how passionate our members are about supporting good causes and they can’t wait to get behind this.”
